Recommended DSL Line

Morning All,

Not sure if I should post in the Business or Tech section, but the question looks for business than technical...

I'm looking to purchase DSL service for my home office and was wondering if anyone would have a suggestion to make. For starters, I host my homegrown Asterisk box running and mail server.

must-have Features:
- At least one static IP
- Absolutely No port block (e.g. Bell and Rogers blocks TCP 25)

It'll also be nice not to pay thru the roof for the said-service

I was looking at Techsavvy and I see their service/price offering to be appealing... anyone has experience with them or could recommend a good company out there?

Thanks all and have a wonderful day!

Warmest Regards,

Claude

I moved from Bell Sympatico to Teksavvy about two years ago, and I couldn't be happier. Teksavvy takes a "hands off" approach to their customer's system, and doesn't block ports or otherwise mismanage their customer's connectivity. Their TOS and AUP permit you to run internet services (with the usual caveats about misuse of bandwidth, spamming, etc.).

I've dealt with their tech support several times (mostly regarding NNTP connectivity, which they still offer as part of their subscription), and have come away happy each time.

Teksavvy seems to be one of the biggest of the "small independent" ISPs. They are customer-centric and responsive. They support Linux systems.

FWIW, my home server runs both my website and my mail service. Teksavvy doesn't interfere with either of those services. I'm running with a dynamic IP, and a dynamic DNS service, and all has run smoothly.
